The Allen & Heath AB168 is a portable stagebox expander offering 16 mic/line inputs and 8 line outputs at 48kHz. Designed for seamless integration with Allen & Heath’s Avantis, SQ, and Qu series mixers, as well as AHM audio matrix processors, the AB168 connects via a single Cat5 cable using dSNAKE technology for high-quality, low-latency audio transmission. Its rugged design features a lightweight metal chassis, rubber bumpers for stage durability, and a carry handle for easy transport. The AB168 can be daisy-chained or connected in redundant mode for added reliability, making it ideal for live sound, houses of worship, schools, and corporate AV. With its compact footprint and straightforward plug-and-play operation, the AB168 gives integrators and engineers flexible I/O expansion wherever it’s needed.

Adding an AB168 to a compatible system allows some or all I/O to be positioned up to 100m from the mixer. The unit connects over a single Cat5 cable to the mixer or AR2412 AudioRack via a secure dSNAKE EtherCon port. A second EtherCon port is provided for daisy-chaining to another AB168 box or connection of a ME personal mixing system. AB168 auto updates its firmware to synchronise with the system. An optional rack mounting kit is also available.
